Our Mission Statement

The Bridgeway Homeschool Support Ministry is a community of Christian families who desire to see their children pursue godly character. Our goal is to support and encourage parents through the sharing of current information, resources and activities; provide social and educational experiences; and to create service opportunities that help others in need.

What does being a part of the Bridgeway Homeschool Support group mean….

This year we have added some exciting activities/opportunities hoping to better support our group. Some of them being:

Monthly Parents Meeting: Meetings will be held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the Community Hall (unless otherwise indicated) from 7 pm to 8:30 pm.  These meetings are meant to encourage, equip and engage with other homeschooling parents!  Childcare will be provided through Kidsway.  Monthly Event Notices of the meetings will be sent out through The City.  Please RSVP and let us know if childcare is needed.

Field Trips:  Our goal is to have a minimum of two scheduled field trips each month (one educational & one fun social activity).  Due to the increasing size of our group, 2 or 3 dates for each field trip might need to be scheduled due to minimum numbers attending.  In order for the team to know if more dates need to be obtained, please RSVP to the Event Notices ASAP.  This will help us make each trip available to all our families.

Older Kids Group (6th through 12th grades):  This group has been created for those families who have children in 6th grade and up.  Age pertinent field trips and activities are scheduled for each month to build community amongst our Jr. High and High School kids and also present educational and charitable opportunities.

Co-opsThere are two educational co-ops scheduled this school year.  One held in the fall and the other in the spring.  A topic is picked for each one and the kids go from station to station and learn something new by either creating a project and/or treat at each station.  Childcare is provided by Kidsway for children 4 and under. *Note:  We do need lots of help for each co-op to be successful.  Please consider signing up to manage a station when the Event Notice is sent out.

Special Events: We provide 3-4 special events each year which are open to the whole group.  Examples of these events would be the Kick-Off (the school year) Event; the Father/Daughter Dance; the Mother/Son Date Night, and the End of the Year Party.

Service Opportunities: Our goal is to provide safe and rewarding service opportunities for your children to serve at.  As service opportunities become know to us, we will be sending out Event Notices, through The City, giving you the opportunity to participate.

Parties/Socials Events:  Community is very important to our group.  Various events/socials and kid’s parties will be held throughout the school year and summer months.  Event Notices will be sent out proving the date, time and all information for each event through The City.

Mentorship:  If you are new to homeschooling and/or you feel would benefit from being in contact with a parent who can give some advice and show you different options, then please sign up and request a Mentor.  Your Mentor will contact you and be available until you feel you are on your way.  Also, if you would like to encourage and be a source of information to a parent who needs a mentor, please sign up as well.

Library:  We currently have over 250+ resources in our library.  Resources can be checked out during our Monthly Meetings and borrowed for one month.  A reminder to return the resources will be sent out one week before our next meeting.  An honor system has been put in place.  Each resource has a pocket and a check out card attached to it.  Please pull the card from the resource and put your name on it, then drop the card in the card box.  At the next meeting, please return your checked-out resource into the “resource box”.  The Librarian will make sure to cross off your name, put the card back into the resource pocket and return it to the shelf.

Memory Books: Pictures are taken at all events and activities by parents.  There is one book for elementary through High School.  We encourage every family to submit a picture even if you are not planning on buying a book.  Memory Books will be handed out in May at our Presentation/Open House Night.  Cost for memory books usually run between $25-$30.

Bible Study:  A year-long homeschooling bible study for moms will be offered.  It will take place on Thursday evenings in a home.  Childcare will not be provided.

Bridgeway Homeschool Support Communication:  All of our activities, events, socials and communications will be sent through The CityThe City is a website that allows us to build deeper community within our group, inform people of events and activities, help new families plug in, and facilitate general communication. It’s user friendly, robust, and secure.  Our homeschool group is a “private” group which means that the group cannot be found by a search.  To become a part of our homeschool group, an invitation will need to be sent to the person wanting to join.  Please contact Susan Richey at to request an invite, along with the person’s email address.  An invite will be sent, along with information on how to join our group.

  • General User Rules About The City:  This communication vehicle has been set up to allow members within a group to share information and events that go along with the group’s mission statement.  Please do not use the group as a place for you to announce self-interested events or activities, ie. fundraisers for other organizations, home parties, etc.  It is okay to post topics on open playgroups; park days, etc. and it is encouraged!  Posting outside information regarding events and/or activities that members in the group might be interested in is permitted, but please take care to not misrepresent the event and/or activity as a Bridgeway sponsored event. Any misrepresentations will be edited or removed.  When posting any events, it is always best to have all information included.  If you have any question about relevancy or whether it is appropriate about what you want to post, please contact the Ministry Leader first!

We would love for you to join us. Please contact one of our coordinators or Ministry Leader Susan Richey at for questions or more information.
