Bridgeway Christian Church

My wife, Sheryl, and I began attending Bridgeway in June of 2007.
It didn’t take long to realize that there was a reason the Lord led us to Bridgeway and I was offered and accepted the opportunity to develop a Ministry for the growing group of people that were over 50 years of age. 

With God’s leading, and a group of dedicated co-leaders the BridgeBuilder group was formed and has become an integral part of the Bridgeway team of ministries.  Our co-leader team is growing as new ministry opportunities arise. The success of the BridgeBuilder Ministries is clearly a result of the dedicated service of the co-leaders.

Sheryl and I were married in August 1969 and have lived in the Sacramento area since 1973.  We presently own a plastic fabrication company that we established in 1986.  In recent years we have started planning our ‘exit’ strategy and hope to retire within a few years. 

God has blessed Sheryl and I with two wonderful children and their spouses, all who believe in and serve our Lord. If asked "what do you do" likely you will hear from us first that we are Grandparents of four beautiful granddaughters ranging from 6 years to 15 years of age and a Grandson who is 18 months old.

In recent months the Lord has given me the opportunity to attend the Chaplain’s Academy.  I am looking forward to working alongside the Bridgeway Compassion Ministry as a Chaplain.  There will be many ‘opportunities to serve’ for the BridgeBuilder group in conjunction with the Compassion Ministry.

It has been a blessing to see so many of the over fifty generation at Bridgeway willing to work alongside so many of the other ministries in the service of the Lord.

Friendships thrive on talk, on telling stories, and sharing a little bit of our hearts and lives with friends, old and new. Through the years, it's your friends who come alongside you in good times and bad. Building friendships or community is one of the main reasons that we are excited about the BridgeBuilder 50 Plus Ministry for we see it as the avenue to be a part of the lives of others in Fun times, in Spiritual Formation and in Caring and Serving our community.

We had been members of the same church for about 45 years in Southern California and had been a part of the leadership in all aspects of church life including Senior Adult and Caring ministries. We followed our children and grandchildren to Northern California after retiring from Teaching and Engineering professions. After deciding that Bridgeway Christian Church was our new church home, we began to pray that God would direct us into ministries He had for us here. We were pleased to meet new friends who were already a part of Crown Financial Ministries and several people with a heart to form a new "50 Plus Ministry." Our desire is that friendships will develop and our community will be served because we love one another the way Jesus loves us.

Jesus said in John 15:14 "You are My friends, if you do what I command you."

Dennis & Nancy Gilman - Events & Socials

We moved to Lincoln Hills in 2004 after having lived in the Central Coast the majority of our life, having raised our 3 children there and now, we also have three grandchildren. 

We have been attending Bridgeway since 2007 and once we became members it didn't take us long to become actively involved. Attending church has always been part of our life and being involved just went hand in hand.

As our children grew up in the church we always were involved with some form of leadership with them. Once we had an "empty nest" the Lord continued to use us in ministry, just in another area of service.  It doesn't matter what 'season' of life you're in...you're never 'retired' in the Lord's eyes. He always has areas of service for us.  We love serving BridgeBuilders (50+ Ministry) as we have connected with many new friends and through the various socials and events they allow even more opportunities to meet new "faces". We look forward to meeting you at some of our events.
