What It Is
Our Purpose is to use the creative avenue of photography to serve God by ministering to the church and individuals. While the purpose of the Photo Ministry stays the same, the ways we do that are continually evolving. We have three main areas of focus: Church Coverage Photography, Personal Care Photography, and Behind the Scenes—but not behind the camera.
Church Coverage Photography: The main goal of the Photo Ministry is to support the various ministries of Bridgeway by taking pictures for the people in the church to enjoy. If a picture is worth a thousand words then Bridgeway has a lot to say! The members of the photography team document the many events and activities the church puts together. We provide a visual history of where Bridgeway has been. The pictures are available for everyone in the church to enjoy. You can download pictures for free, or even order prints through the website if you'd like. Check them out at www.bridgeway.smugmug.com.
Personal Care Photography: Since most of the work we do is in an observational/documentary role, this avenue allows interested photographers to use their talents to bless individuals. Whether it is taking family portraits at a local women’s shelter, discount photography for low-income families, or restoring photos for residents at retirement homes, the possibilities are endless.
Behind the Scenes—but not behind the camera: There are lots of things to do besides taking pictures. Uploading pictures, customizing the photo website, and teaching others about photography are just a few things that go on behind the scenes.
Security note: Any children-specific events are password protected. Contact Jenny Stephenson, Bridgeway’s Children’s Director, at for passwords. This is just to provide an extra layer of protection for our little ones. The Photo Ministry is very sensitive to safety in the Information Age. All the church galleries are hidden from search engines (so people cannot find the pictures through Google or even from the main SmugMug site). Involvement
Each member of the team has a different creative angle, but all members share a love of photography and a heart of service. Whatever your photographic skill level or interest level, there is a way to be involved. The time commitment is whatever you want to make of it, every day or once a year.
Professionals: If you are a professional photographer with your own digital camera 
equipment and would like to be of service to the church, we could definitely put your skills and talents to good use! The possibilities are endless as to the things we could get pictures of. If you have a particular area of interest, please let us know and we’ll work with you to engage your passions, interests, talents and skills. The main need is to cover large church events such as the annual baptism, church picnics, drama, VBS, etc…but we are open to all creative suggestions.
Photography Lovers of all Skill Levels: If you like taking pictures, we would love your help! Our goal would be to have pictures of everything that goes on at the church, but, unfortunately, that is not always possible. Our pro photo team cannot be everywhere. We need help from people who are already involved in the many great ministries in the church. If you can use a point-and-shoot digital camera, we can use you! If you are already involved in a ministry and would be willing to snap a few pictures while you are there, please do!
