Haiti Orphan Provision Effort (H.O.P.E.)
Bridgeway is committed to caring and protecting orphans and vulnerable children all over the world. In Haiti we had been involved with an orphanage called Son of God until we became aware that the directors were neglecting, abusing, and even trafficking the children. We were directly involved in the closure of that orphanage and now we continue to love on 38 of the girls who were rescued and taken to a better orphanage in Port-au-Prince called Life is Wealth. At this facility the children have joined over 40 other girls who were already being cared for by the orphanage director and staff. Each girl has been enrolled in school, is receiving regular meals each day, and has the opportunity to attend church on Sundays. In January of 2012 Bridgeway formed a new relationship with a second orphanage located in Carrefour, Haiti which is called The Healing Orphanage of Jesus Christ. This orphanage is co-ed with 50 children ranging in age from 3 – 13 years old. Many of these children have been rescued as discarded babies or taken off the streets of Haiti by the orphanage director Farah who has given her life to loving and providing for “the least of these.”
How you can help:
Pray: Providing for and raising children in Haiti is an extremely difficult task in families let alone in overcrowded orphanages with no governmental assistance. Please pray for the health and safety of the children, for physical provision, and that Jesus would be the primary focus of their lives. Also please pray for encouragement and wisdom for the orphanage directors as they care for so many children.
Donate: These kids have so many basic needs and donations of any kind are helpful. The kids could use clothes, school supplies, games, arts and craft items, books, and monetary donations for food and water. To donate to the HOPE Fund please click on the link below.
