Home School Ministry Leaders
Susan Richey – Family/Homeschool Ministry Leader
My name is Susan Richey and I have been going to Bridgeway Christian Church since 2006. I have been fortunate to marry my best friend, Keith, whom I have known since 7th grade. We have three beautiful children (Kyle, Makenna & Chase) whom I have been homeschooling since 2008. My husband and I are involved in the Family Ministry Leadership here at Bridgeway. We facilitate parenting classes and help to equip parents with tools that create family unity and educate the importance of heart training in their children. That is the sole reason why I feel God called me to homeschool…discipleship. I started this journey asking “God, how can I shape your children to be more like you?”, but ultimately, God has changed and created a new heart in me!
Brenda Johnston – Homeschool Lead Coordinator
My name is Brenda Johnston and I have been attending Bridgeway since early 2010. I’ve been married to Tim since 2000 and we have been blessed with four children: Paige, Faith, Seth, and Noelle. My husband and I felt God calling us to investigate homeschooling before our kids were potty trained. I went to multiple conferences to see what it was all about and was hooked! We finished our first “official” year of homeschooling in the Spring of 2010. We love the flexibility and opportunities for growth that having our children at home provides.
Rhianna Rowe – Admin/Registration
My husband and I have four precious daughters that I am blessed to get to stay at home with and homeschool. That doesn’t mean every day is perfect and blissful. In fact, most days are crazy, loud, a lot of hard work and a lot of character training (mostly for me). Many days I feel like I am doing it all wrong. On those days I am left only to trust Him, that His grace is sufficient, His power is made perfect in weakness, and He chose the foolish and weak so that no one may boast of themselves (2 Cor 12:9 & 1 Cor 1:27,29). Successfully homeschooling, and being a mother at all, is definitely not because I am great. It is because God is graceful! Our family has been regularly attending Bridgeway since 2009 and we began our rewarding adventure of homeschooling in 2011.
Amanda Medford – Discipleship
We began attending Bridgeway in the summer of 2012. I have been married to my husband, Justin, since 2005, and we have 4 great kids, 2 boys and 2 girls. I was homeschooled for a few years myself, so I knew a lot about it but just wasn't sure at first that it would be right for our family. With God's leading, we have found homeschooling to be such a blessing. There are so many fun and helpful resources now to help homeschooling parents, and Bridgeway plays such a big part in that for our family. I am excited to be a part of the leadership team to give back to such a great ministry. We began homeschooling our first child in preschool in 2010. As the younger kids are growing, we are enjoying adding more to our homeschooling and feel blessed to spend our days together.
Alicia Evans – Discovery Days Co-Coordinator
I have been married to my husband, Joe, since 2004. He has always had an interest in homeschooling our 3 children, but I wasn’t sure I was cut out for it. My oldest child started in public school, but I missed him terribly and often felt like I was giving away the best hours of his day to someone else. The Lord slowly changed my heart, and I’m so glad that He did. We started homeschooling in 2013, and I love that we get to spend so much time learning and going on adventures together!
The Bridgeway Homeschool Support group has been a fantastic support for me, and we have all been blessed by the fun and educational opportunities.
Bonnie Kerr – Discovery Days Co-Coordinator
Hi! I am Bonnie Kerr. I married the love of my life, Shaun, in 1997. In 2005, we started adding members to our family. We now have 4 kiddos (2 knights, 2 princesses). Our family has been at Bridgeway since 2011 and homeschooling since Pre-K years starting around 2008.
Some things I enjoy are cooking, baking (soft spot for cake decorating and cookie cutters), participating in Fitbit challenges (burning cals means more enjoying of yummy food) and hanging out with folks I can be real with around the kitchen table.
I love homeschooling because it is awesome for all learning styles – from enacting wild west adventures to quiet reading of fairy stories. I love it all (on most days that is). Above academics, homeschooling also allows us to grow our kids to love God, family, others and learning too. The spirit of your kids can be nurtured to love learning in the way God uniquely made them…and with you guiding them – a person who loves them and is uniquely made to be their parent (what a perfect fit). Love it! Homeschooling might not be as picture perfect as a fairytale but it certainly is an adventure…one you can share with friends.
Kelly Glacken – Field Trip Co-Coordinator
My name is Kelly Glacken and I have been homeschooling since 2014. My husband Greg and I have been married since 1999 and we have two lovely children: Emily and Nathaniel. I am a teacher by profession and what I like about homeschooling is the opportunities my children are getting that they would not be getting in a public school. By educating my children at home I have the ability to adapt what they are learning to their individual learning styles and interests. I also love field trips and am so excited to serve in the capacity of field trip coordinator! Let the fun begin!
Kristi Saunders – Field Trip Co-Coordinator
My name is Kristi Saunders. I have been married since 2005 and we have four wonderful children, 3 boys and 1 girl. I am in the beginning of my homeschooling journey. It took a while for me to jump on board with homeschooling my children as I come from a public education background. Teaching second grade for a few years in a public school made me very aware of how difficult it can be to ensure that all students' needs in the classroom are being met. Another reason our family chose to homeschool was that my husband and his two siblings were homeschooled. The well-rounded education they received and the God-fearing people each of them have become today has given me motivation to provide the same Christ-centered learning experiences for our children. I have loved the support and encouragement I have received from the Bridgeway Homeschool Support Group since 2012 and am so thankful to be a part of this group of like-minded moms and great community of children for my kids.
Lorilee Mickelson – Older Kids Group (OKG) Field Trip Coordinator
My name is Lorilee and we have been homeschooling since 2012. My husband, Keith, and I have been married since 1999 and we have two daughters. Our family enjoys spending most of our times outdoors. Together we love hiking, bike riding, but we especially enjoy Tahoe for skiing and snowboarding.

God started my journey to homeschooling my kids long before I was blessed to welcome them into our lives. I have always been involved in some way “teaching” and working with children since I was old enough to babysit. My heart has always been filled with joy watching children learn and grow. I married my husband and best friend, Mike, in May of 1997. Our sweet girl Grace arrived in January of 2002 and, a few years later, our handsome little man Jack completed our family in August of 2004.
Due to some life changing events that left me paralyzed from the waist down at the age of 19, I returned to collage to get a degree in Occupational Therapy. I went on to specialize in pediatrics with an emphasis on sensory integration. I have worked in the public school system helping children succeed in their education process since January of 2000.
Being directly involved in the public school system, watching my friends who started the homeschooling journey before me, and God’s tug on my heart highly influenced my decision to homeschool. I was one of those people who said, “I will never homeschool.” God changed my heart as I watched my daughter growing during her toddler and preschool years. I understood all too well her need to be educated with a hands on, visual and sensory approach. My background in education provided a foundation to start our homeschool journey. It has been an amazing adventure and a joy since we started in 2007. My goals have always been to provide an educational experience that provides a joy for learning and a strong moral character in my children.
I have been privileged and blessed to be part of Bridgeway’s homeschool support group since 2010 and on the ministry team since 2012. We have made amazing friends through this group and thank God for opportunity to serve.
