BLUEPRINTS THEOLOGY TRACK

For Spring 2012 we do not have any classes in this track.

FOR YOUR REFERENCE: Below are other classes we have offered in this track. We may be offering these again in the future.

Introduction to Theology: Handling the Word of Truth
Overview: Many of us want to know more—more about God, our lives, the Scriptures, and more about our spiritual formation. Theology has the advantage of looking across the landscape of all of the Bible's teaching on various subjects and giving clarification. It is reflection drawn from historical analysis of the acts of God as they were reported in Scripture. 2 Timothy 3:15 says, Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. Paul points out that there is an element of work involved in handling the word of truth. Theology is the word that describes that work of handling the word of truth. We study theology not because we want a good grade on a test but because “what we know about God shapes the way we think and live.” It matters because if we get it wrong, our whole life could be wrong. We may end up basing our lives on our own imaginations and misconceptions. In these four weeks we will explore the foundational elements of theology and theological methods which will prepare us to narrow in on specific areas of theology in future Blueprints classes.
Who should take this class: If you are at a point where you want to gain comprehensive clarification and understanding of what the Scripture says and learn how to study, discuss and apply its main concepts, this class is for you. This class will be a mixture of academic and practical training.
Homework Expectations: Assignments & Reading TBD.
Required Materials/Costs: There will be one required text and two recommended texts, TBA at the beginning of the class. There is no cost for this class but please register in advance online.
