BLUEPRINTS BIBLE
For Spring 2012 we have the following class for this track:
Is the Bible Reliable? Building the Historical Case > REGISTER
When: Sundays, 9:00-10:30am – Feb 5th-April 15th
Where: Bridgeway Christian Church in the Hub Chapel
Overview: Is the Bible a book of myths and fairy tales, or is it a book of history and truth? This new 10-week class provides a thorough overview of major archaeological and historical discoveries that demonstrate the historical reliability of the Bible. The main teaching material for the class is the DVD series from Focus on the Family called TrueU: Is the Bible Reliable. It presents compelling arguments from history and archaeology that prove the Bible is a reliable historical document, demonstrating how its claims have been upheld repeatedly by corroborating evidence. The format of each class will typically include a 30-minute DVD presentation followed by discussion and Q & A.
Who should take this class: Anyone seeking to understand the historical and archaeological evidence for why we can trust the Bible. NOTE: This class would be especially helpful for teens preparing to enter into the university environment, and for their parents.
Homework Expectations: There will be no homework, but online resources will be available for further study.
Required Materials/Costs: There is no cost, but please register online for this class.

Sharpening Your Sword: The Science and Art of Hermeneutics and Exegeses
Overview: The Bible describes itself as “powerful, sharp and alive” but many people see it as irrelevant, weak and/or dead. Teachers who misuse it are accountable for a “double judgment”—both for themselves and those to whom they speak. The purpose of this class is to help the leader and teacher “rightly handle the Word of Truth” so they and their students are helped in the way that God intends. Hermeneutics is the science and art of interpretation—the rules to arriving at what the Bible is really intending to say. Exegesis is the practice of Bible interpretation—how to systematically study and unlock the meaning and power of the Word. This six-week class is the first of two parts; the second will be offered later this spring.
Who should take this class: This is an advanced class designed to train leaders and teachers. It will include lecture, practice, interactive discussion, and homework consisting of reading and Bible study. It is open to men and women of all ages who intend to lead others and who are committed to serious study. Each week will involve the learning of a hermeneutical law, an aspect of bible interpretation, and a time to practice using them together.
Homework Expectations: There will be homework consisting of reading assignments and Bible study.
Required Materials/Costs: Bring your Bible. There is no cost for this class.
