Blueprints for Growth represents a church-wide strategy for making disciples at Bridgeway. Our desire is to bring people to maturity in Christ, but what does that look like and how do we get there?

We are not interested in a one-size-fits-all program but a strategy and approach that fits what God is doing at Bridgeway and the unique culture He has given us. And we, as individuals, are at different places in our walks with the Lord. So we’ll be offering a variety of classes to help us grow spiritually, no matter where we are on that journey.

In the coming weeks, we are launching a number of adult classes designed to help us get better grounded in our walks with the Lord and get a better grasp of the Bible. We have assembled an array of gifted teachers who are passionate about what they are teaching. Most of them have graduate degrees in Bible, Theology or related fields, and they have extensive teaching experience.

Below is a summary of each class. More detailed information will be available in the coming weeks on this web site as well as in the lobby at church. This is just the beginning. We will be developing more classes and resources as we take this journey together. We hope you will join us!

Blessings,
Pastor Mark

STARTING FEBRUARY 21ST…

150x_sunrays.jpgNew Life in Christ – Beginning the Journey of Grace for the New Believer
Sundays 9:00-10:30am, February 21st through March 28th in the Bridgeway Annex

This is a six week series to help new followers of Christ grow in their new found faith along the journey of Grace. As we study God’s Word together, we will encounter awesome portraitures of God, humbling reflections of ourselves, astounding images of Jesus’ life, and amazing truths about the Cross.

Topics include: What happened at the Cross? Who am I in Christ? Why do I still struggle with sin? How do I grow as a follower of Christ? How can I know God better? What place does the Bible have in my life? Each week there will be a time of teaching, sharing and reflection on the truths of God’s Word that will help us grow in our walk with Jesus.

Although this class is geared for those who are new believers, it would also benefit those who have been Christians for a while but have never had a foundational class like this. If you are still seeking and are not sure what you believe, you would also find this class helpful. And if you are a mature believer who would like some tools for helping guide those new in the faith, this class would be a great resource for you as well.

STARTING MARCH 7TH…

150x_Bible_readerBible Overview Class – Understanding the Big Picture
Sundays 11:15am-12:45pm, March 7th through May 23rd in the Bridgeway Annex

The Bible Overview Class is a 10 to 12-week class that will take you through a high-level survey of the Bible including timelines, major layout, important characters and events. The whole Bible is meant to be read and understood, but most of us get lost in the details, stories and events. We simply do not know how the events flow, what their significance is, and why we should spend our time reading about them.

If you are tired of being lost in Scripture, then this is the class for you. We will spend several weeks together going over the layout of the Bible, and you will be challenged to learn in a fun and bite-sized manner. Anyone can do this and we progress at a comfortable pace. Just think, by the time you complete this class, you will understand the Bible on a level that will surprise you and change your view of Scripture forever.

150x_domeDefending the Faith – An Introduction to Christian Apologetics
Sundays 2:00-3:45pm March 7th through May 16th in the Bridgeway Annex

An “apologetic” is simply a defense. Peter actually commanded all believers to be ready with answers when people ask us about our faith. In 1 Peter 3:15, the word translated as “reason” is the word apologia, which means “a reasoned statement or argument.” Obeying this command just means you’ve got reasons for what you believe and you’re ready to talk with anyone who’s got questions. It doesn’t mean getting defensive. It doesn’t mean getting into fights. It means speaking the truth in love as we represent our Lord at work, school, in our community and society. But in order to be prepared, we’ve got to know what we believe and why we believe it. That’s what this 9-week course in defending the faith is all about—increasing your confidence as a Christian by exploring the reasons and evidences for the faith, and preparing yourself to be a more effective ambassador of Jesus Christ.

150x_MormonismMormonism – Understanding Beliefs and Building Bridges
Sundays 4:00-5:30pm, March 7th through March 21st in the Bridgeway Annex

This three-week class will be taught by Dennis Rykert, a former Mormon. Dennis served in high levels of leadership in the Bishopric, came to faith in Christ and left the Mormon church. Dennis has been attending Bridgeway for years now and he has a passion to reach Mormons with the truth of the Gospel. He is uniquely qualified to teach this class because he knows from first-hand experience the intricacies of Mormon beliefs and culture. This class is designed to help you understand Mormon history and beliefs, know the differences between Mormon and Christian doctrine, and learn how to build bridges to share with Mormons in a loving and respectful way.
